Notes
Fragments of a foliate border cropped from the Fitzwilliam Museum’s Murano Gradual cutting of the Dormition of the Virgin (Fitzwilliam accession number: Marlay cutting It. 18). The gradual was probably made for the Camaldolese monastery of San Michele, Murano. Dimensions: (1) 40 x 23 cm.; (2) 25 x 4 cm.; (3) 6 x 3 cm.; (4) 12 x 6 cm.
Drawn in tempera with gold leaf.
North Italian, probably from Venice.
The cuttings are pasted to the mount and the versos are not visible.
