At the front of the ms. is an index of persons in books 3 and 4 [sic] (ff. 1r-35r) and list of chapters in book 3 (36r-42v).
Dedicated to Francsco Gonzaga (rubric, f. 1r).
Written in a gothic rotunda book hand in two columns in black ink, rubrics in red. Initial letters in blue and red have pen-work decoration. F. 43r has a historiated initial showing a copyist at work, a headpiece with the arms of the Gonzaga family, and an ornamental border.
The work is sometimes ascribed to Niccolò da Ferrara, OSB.
Bound in 19th-century diced red russian leather, gilt.
