Also included are writings and panel talks by George reflecting on her work with Frontiers as well as newsletters, correspondence, and printed materials relating to George's involvement in women's studies organizations. Most of the photographs in this collection are or will be digitized and available online. Folder titles were created by George. Folders were arranged alphabetically by the archivist.
BIOGRAPHY
A graduate of the University of Colorado, Kathi George was founding editor and publisher of the pioneer scholarly feminist journal, Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies in 1974. An interdisciplinary journal intended to overcome the barriers dividing women, Frontiers sought to present substantive articles accessible to non-academic readers and to balance traditional and innovative work. Early on it began publishing issues centering around an idea or theme, such as Native American women or reproductive technology. Frontiers moved to the University of New Mexico in 1987 and George resigned from the editorial collective. After leaving Frontiers, George worked as an independent copy editor and publisher and taught copy editing and publishing at the University of California, San Diego. She joined Brighton Press as a copywriter in 2003 and has published chapbooks and broadsides under her own imprint, DougRegelRome.
