.42 linear feet (1 file box)The papers of Elayne Archer consists mainly of letters Archer wrote to her mother and brother while a student at Radcliffe College detailing her social life, studies, money worries, friendships, and other topics. Also included are photocopies of her Radcliffe College transcript and 25th anniversary class report; photographs of Archer taken while she attended Radcliffe and later in life; synopses of the letters she wrote home from Radcliffe; and three autobiographical essays about her Radcliffe years, her post-Radcliffe years, and work and retirement.
BIOGRAPHY
Teacher, writer, and editor, Elayne Grant Archer was born in England in 1943. After the death of her father, Elayne moved with her mother and brother to Toronto. She was admitted to Radcliffe College and graduated magna cum laude in 1966, with a major in English. Archer later taught at the City University of New York and St. Peter's College in Jersey City, New Jersey, and worked as an editor at a number of nonprofit organizations, including the Academy of Educational Development.
