The scrapbook of Lucia R. Briggs contains programs, calling cards, tickets, photographs, memorabilia, etc., documenting her years at Radcliffe College. The collection also contains a folder of poems and biographical information.

BIOGRAPHY

College president Lucia Russell Briggs (1887-1960) was the daughter of Le Baron Russell Briggs, Harvard professor, dean, and second president of Radcliffe College. Her mother, Mary De Quedville Briggs, was a graduate of Radcliffe. Lucia Russell Briggs also graduated from Radcliffe (AB 1909, AM 1912) where she majored in English literature. She taught in high schools and at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts, before being appointed president of Milwaukee-Downer College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she served for 30 years.
