Collection contains four letters (one is a fragment) from Harriet Hosmer to abolitionist Lydia Maria Child and one transcription of a letter from Hosmer by Child, ca.1855-ca.1865. Letters describe Hosmer's work, particularly her design for the Lincoln Memorial in Springfield, Illinois, and her statue of Zenobia which critics attributed to John Gibson despite his denials. Hosmer asks for Child's support in refuting the charges.
