The Julie A. Grimstad collection on Joseph R. Stanton contains materials relating to Grimstad's unpublished book on Stanton, "Profound Obligation; Highest Privilege": Dr. Joseph R. Stanton and the Prolife Movement. Materials include an incomplete draft of the book; letters from Stanton and his wife, Mary, to Grimstad; biographical information about Stanton; correspondence with Stanton's colleagues about Stanton and the proposed book; and research files containing reprints of articles by and clippings about Stanton, many with notes from Stanton written on them.

BIOGRAPHY

Julie A. Grimstad is a licensed practical nurse and volunteer patient advocate. In 1973, she began volunteering with Birthright of Lincoln, Nebraska, and became a Natural Family Planning instructor for the Diocese of Lincoln. Several years later she founded and served as the director of a pregnancy aid office in Tacoma, Washington. From 1985 to 2004, she was the director of the Center for the Rights of the Terminally Ill. In 2012, with Jo Tolck, Ann Olson, and Mary Merritt, she co-founded Pro-Life Healthcare Alliance (PHA), an outreach of Human Life Alliance (HLA). In 2018, Grimstad, Tolck, Olson, and Merritt founded the Healthcare Advocacy and Leadership Organization (HALO), a non-profit Christian organization that addresses a wide array of ethical issues including euthanasia, assisted suicide, rationing of medical services, and hastening of death in healthcare settings. Grimstad serves as HALO's president and as executive director of Life is Worth Living, Inc. Grimstad is also a pro-life writer whose areas of interest are euthanasia, assisted suicide and patient advocacy.
