BIOGRAPHY

Author and publisher Vicki Lansky, daughter of Arthur and Mary Kaplan Rogosin, was born January 6, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky. She married S. Bruce Lansky in 1967. The had two children before divorcing in 1983. She married Stephen M. Schaefer in 2008. Her first book, Feed Me I'm Yours, began as a fund raiser for the Minneapolis chapter of the Childbirth Education Association in 1974. Encouraged by the reception to the book, Lansky and her husband started a publishing company, Meadowbrook Press, and marketed the book to a national audience. Lansky's other books include Taming of the C.A.N.D.Y. (Continuously Advertised Nutritionally Deficient Yummies), Practical Parenting Tips for the First Five Years, Fat-Proofing Your Children, and Vicki Lansky's Divorce Book for Parents: Helping Your Children Cope With Divorce and Its Aftermath. Lansky was also a columnist for the Minneapolis Star Tribune and Sesame Street Parents magazine and was a contributing editor to Family Circle magazine. She appeared on numerous television and radio shows offering parenting and housekeeping advice as well as instructions on how to make healthier snack foods. She served as a spokesperson for Arm & Hammer Baking Soda, the Dole Family Advisory Board, Mead Johnson's Enfamil, and Proctor & Gamble's Bounce fabric softener. Lansky died on January 15, 2017, from nonalcoholic cirrhosis.
