BIOGRAPHY

Political scientist Jane Mansbridge received a BA from Wellesley College in 1961, MA in history from Harvard University in 1966, and a PhD in government from Harvard University in 1971. She taught at the University of Chicago and Northeastern University before joining the faculty at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 1996. She is the author of Beyond Adversary Democracy (1980) and Why We Lost the ERA (1986) and has edited and co-edited several works including Beyond Self-Interest (1990), Feminism: Schools of Thought in Politics (1994), Deliberative Systems (2012), and Negotiating Agreement in Politics (2014). She has served as president of the American Political Science Association (2012-2013) and has received, among other awards, the Johan Skytte Prize in Political Science (2018).
