Collection consists of printed material about Jennifer Abod and the International Women's Radio Exchange which she founded in 1985. The collection contains Abod's resume, lists of cassette tapes included in the International Women's Radio Exchange, and an audio recording entitled, "Hard Times: Cotton Mill Girls," about the experiences of mill women in 1900-1984.
BIOGRAPHY
Jennifer L. Abod is an American feminist activist, musician, journalist and film maker. She was born on June 5, 1946 in Worcester, Massachusetts. She is the sister of feminist activist Susan Abod. She received her Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University and her Master of Science from Southern Connecticut State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Intercultural Media Education and Women's Studies from Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Abod was a radio broadcaster for 19 years. She produced award-winning documentaries, including "Hard Times: Cotton Mill Girls," "Educating Rita: Encountering the Computer Era," and "Women in Leadership." She taught at the University of Massachusetts Boston, Worcester State, Hofstra University, and Cal State Long Beach.
