The collection contains a handwritten cookbook kept by Sarah L. Weld The cookbook includes recipes (many identified as to source, for example, Mrs. Pratt, or provenance, for example, Philadelphia), and housekeeping advice. The cookbook includes recipes for veal; croquets; soup; bread; cake; gingerbread (many recipes); griddlecakes; puddings; ice cream; and jam. Tips for "colouring socks," cleaning silk, and other household tasks, as well as recipes for rat poison and "German lip salve" and several remedies for coughs are also included.
