1 folderThe Viaux family recipe book is a notebook with two sections. The main portion of the notebook, beginning at the front of the book, consists of handwritten recipes for foods including soup; fish; vegetables; cakes; jellies and jams; puddings; alcoholic beverages; soda water; recipes for pickling and preserving various foods and for curing bacon; and recipes for various home remedies, such as eye salve; tooth powder; treatment for burns; and cures for cholera, dysentery, and whooping cough. The notebook also includes handwritten notes on "Dr Stewart's method of healing the Pulmonary Complaint" and a series of medical recipes. This material begins at the end of the notebook and continues towards the center.
