1 folderCollection consists of a handwritten cookbook with recipes, many of which are attributed, presumably to friends. The cookbook includes a humorous essay "How to Cook Husbands"; handwritten recipes for meat, egg, fish, and cheese dishes, souffles, breads, desserts, puddings, prune whip, vegetable and fruit jellies, etc.
BIOGRAPHY
Interior designer and environmentalist, Mary Brewster Kennedy was born September 15, 1914 and grew up in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, the daughter of Florence Besse and Kingman Brewster, Sr. Her brother was Kingman Brewster, Jr., president of Yale University. She graduated from Smith College (1936) and studied at the University of Chicago where she met her first husband, Carvel E. Collins. She later married architect Robert Woods Kennedy. An active member of the Cambridge Plant and Garden Club (Massachusetts), she served as Cambridge's Conservation Commissioner and was instrumental in restoring the Fresh Pond Reservation. Kennedy died in Cambridge November 16, 2011 in Cambridge at age 97.
