Collection consists of a handwritten cookbook, probably mid to late 19th century, compiled by Minnie A.B. Harvey. The cookbook includes recipes for cakes and other desserts; puddings; pies; meat; fish; gravies and sauces; as well as a section on breads with notes and observations. It also contains recipe clippings from newspapers and magazines, including a instructions for dandelion wine and an advertisement for Crisco featuring recipes using the product. In addition, it contains newspaper articles on household chores such as cleaning clothes, rust stains, and caring for rubber plants.

BIOGRAPHY

Minnie A. B. Harvey was born in Pennsylvania on March 3, 1868, the daughter of Brown Boylan and Sue Cook. She married Harry G. Harvey and lived in Downingtown, Chester County, Pennsylvania. They had two children. Harvey died October 7, 1924.
