1 folderThe collection consists of one notebook from what appears to be a home economics class taken while Brown was in eighth grade. Initial entries in the volume include kitchen and classroom cleaning instructions, measurement abbreviations and equivalencies, and food classifications. Later entries consist of recipes for sauces, vegetables, soups, desserts, and candies.
BIOGRAPHY
Doris Madeline Brown Palmer was born to Percy and Laura Brown in 1908 in Somerville, Massachusetts. Her parents were from Nova Scotia and her father was a rate clerk. At some point the family relocated to Medford, Massachusetts, where she later graduated from Medford High School. She was married to Foster McCrum Palmer, originally from Kansas City, Missouri. She died in 1981 in Newton, Massachusetts, and was buried in Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.
