Collection contains two photograph albums dating from late 1969 through 1970. The albums document meetings, events, and social activities of the San Francisco chapter of the Young Republicans. Included are cocktail parties, events, and speaking engagements for Republican candidates and elected officials in the state. Republican officials featured include the Honorable Paul N. McCloskey, Jr.; Spencer Williams, a candidate for the Republican nomination for California's attorney general; the Honorable Evelle J. Younger; the Honorable Janet Aitken; State Senator Milton Marks; and the Honorable James Mailliard. Photographs of each event are separated by a page detailing the event, including where it was being held, speakers, and topics. Each individual photograph is also captioned with information on the featured activity.

BIOGRAPHY

Joan Marie Anderson served as Vice President for Political Action of the San Francisco chapter of the Young Republicans (1969-1970). During those years, she photographed and described the political action activities, including meetings and events, of the San Francisco Young Republicans. The Young Republicans officially organized in 1931 as the Young Republican National Federation under the leadership of George H. Olmsted.
