.83 linear feet ((2 file boxes) plus 1 folio folder)The papers of Lucy Kathleen Brown Wigham (known as Kathleen or Katie) contain an 1890 printed cookbook with some handwritten additions; documents relating to her marriage to John Cuthbert Wigham (known as Cuthbert) in 1899; correspondence between Cuthbert and Kathleen; and genealogical information. Correspondence between Kathleen and Cuthbert is mainly from 1899 before their marriage, when Kathleen lived in Gloucester and Cuthbert lived in Surrey. Letters contain statements of affection; descriptions of places in England and Italy where Cuthbert or Kathleen visited; descriptions of social outings; news of family and friends; commentary on their Quaker faith; plans for their life after their marriage; and descriptions of wedding gifts. Folders were created by the archivist. Files are arranged alphabetically.
BIOGRAPHY
Lucy Kathleen Brown Wigham, daughter of Charles and Lucy Anna Pim Brown, was born December 15, 1874. She was a Quaker who lived in Gloucester, England. In 1899 she married John Cuthbert Wigham (1869-1950), an electrical engineer, on September 27, 1899; they had three children, John, Charles, and Hazel. Wigham died on June 14, 1928.

The papers of Lucy Kathleen Brown Wigham were given to the Schlesinger Library by her granddaughter, Kathleen H. Bond, between 2010 and 2013.

Two folders of letters from Lucy Kathleen Brown Wigham to John Cuthbert Wigham in 1923 arrived at the library seriously damaged by mouse urine and were discarded.
