Folder titles were created by the archivist. Files are arranged alphabetically.
BIOGRAPHY
Minnie Stimpson Turner, daughter of Richard Devens and Elizabeth Frances Pearson Turner, was born March 27, 1865, in Charlestown, Massachusetts. She taught at the Burns School in Somerville, Massachusetts, and was the first woman elected to the Somerville School Board. Following her retirement in 1911, Turner taught at Miss Farmer's School of Cookery and later co-founded the Boston School of Cookery with Lucy G. Allen. During World War I, she carried out food conservation projects, including demonstrations on canning and drying food, for the National Civic Federation. After the War, she continued working with the National Civic Federation as director of the Bureau of Household Occupations. She died April 3, 1936.
