James Wallace Black (1825-1896) was a popular photographer based in Boston, Massachusetts. Black worked under the professional name J.W. Black from the 1850s to 1890s. He is known for his experimentation with aerial photography, studio portraits of public figures, and prints documenting the Great Boston Fire of 1872.
Biographical / Historical
Albert J. Bellows (1804-1869), M.D., 1829, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, was a homeopathic physician and author. His book The Philosophy of Eating, a popular dietetic text, was first published in 1867. Bellows practiced medicine in Milford, Massachusetts, and Salem, Massachusetts, before serving as Superintendent and Lecturer at the Charlestown Female Seminary, Boston, Massachusetts, in the 1840s and 1850s. In his final years, he practiced medicine in Roxbury, Massachusetts.
