Content Description

Consists of an audio recording of a seminar held on 11 January 1969 on the topic of the EMG control for sensing proportional rate elbow prosthesis with feedback, commonly referred to as "the Boston Arm." The recording features three speakers: Melvin J. Glimcher, Chief of Orthopedic Service at Massachusetts General Hospital; Robert W. Mann, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and Allen Cudworth, Director of Research at Liberty Mutual Research Laboratories. This event was part of a series of seminars in medicine held at the Sherman Auditorium, Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. The collection includes original audio tape recording, digital surrogate, and typed transcript in print and electronic formats.
