The Records of the Harvard Teachers' Union include general information, publications, copies of its constitution, meeting minutes, bulletins, correspondence and papers, and reports. The collection also includes a statement on the Teachers' Oath Law of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, replies to a questionnaire on placement services, and a statement by the Cambridge Union of University Teachers on the dismissal of Harvard Economics instructors J. Raymond Walsh and Dr. Alan R. Sweezy.

Historical note on the Harvard Teachers' Union

The Harvard Teachers' Union was founded in the fall of 1935 as a local Harvard chapter of the American Federation of Teachers, the second largest teacher's labor union in the United States. The Harvard group was originally named the Cambridge Union of University Teachers, but was later changed to the Harvard Teachers' Union.
