Inventory update

This document last updated 2022 September 1.

Origin of the Photographic Subject files: panormics

The Photographic Subject files were compiled by Harvard University Archives staff in a now-obsolete effort to provide subject access. Staff generally filed photographs or other two-dimensional images, regardless of their source, into categories based on group name or topic in order to house them together and for ease of reference. This practice was ceased in the year 2000. The separation of panoramic photographs from the other photographic subject files was done by photograph conservators in approximately 2008. They re-housed and renumbered the photographs, preserving the Archives' early subject categories but assigning new numbers.

Processing Information

This inventory encoded by Kate Bowers in December 2018 from a list provided by photograph conservators. Titles, dates, and physical descriptions were assigned by photograph conservators.
