Extent
.25 linear feet (1 box)Contains two copies of screenplays for Little Women, one a second treatment dated 1932 October 15 and the other a screen play dated 1933 November, the time of the film's public release. Further records include background atmosphere research into the setting of Concord, Massachusetts, and the March home. One of the two copies of the background research is labeled Mr. Selznick. Additional materials include a second draft of a continuity outline from 1932 October 21, and costume research, also labeled Mr. Selznick.
Biographical / Historical
Little Women was an American film directed by George CUkor and produced by RKO Pictures in 1933, based on the 1868 novel of the same title by Louisa May Alcott. The film starred Katharine Hepburn, Joan Bennett, Frances Dee, and Jean Parker. The screenplay was written by Sarah Y. Mason and Victor Heerman. Though David O. Selznick was not given screen credit for Little Women, he returned to RKO from MGM to supervise the production as his final film in his contract with RKO.
