Biographical / Historical

Rev. Nathaniel Clapp was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, c. 1668/1669. His parents were Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Smith) Clapp. He went to Harvard and received his AB there in 1690. He started his ministry in the First Congregational Church in Newport, Rhode Island in 1695. He was ordained in 1720 and became the pastor of the church.

Gift of Miss Elizabeth P. Sever of Kingston, Massachusetts in 1855.
