Accounts Current, 1731 Digital
Scope and Contents
Includes accounts current of Nathaniel Holmes in 1731 with merchants Clark & Kilby and Ephraim Baker showing trade of lumber and dry goods. There is also an account to Holmes from his brother George Holmes for notes and hats made for people identified by last name only, such as Currier, Curtis, Boylston, and Thornton; and for Sesor (or Cesar), who was probably enslaved. The balance owed by Holmes to his brother was about 151 pounds, which he paid in rum, a desk, an enslaved boy he valued at 70 pounds, board of a man named Pompe, and shoes and cash.
