Betts & Raymond records

Scope and Contents

Daybooks and ledgers kept by general store operators Betts & Raymond located in Wilton, Connecticut from 1801-1826. The volumes contain entries for goods sold including brandy, rum, sugar, molasses, nails, tea, salt, and potatoes.

The ledger, 1801-1823 contains an index entries for James Brown and Drake Cuff Fitch, both free black men.

Betts & Raymond was a general store that operated in Wilton, Connecticut. The store was established in 1784 by Captain Daniel Betts IV (1757-1845) and Captain Asahel Raymond III (1760-1830).
