Notes
The 8 pages consist of a woodcut title-page with letterpress imprint, dedication (p. [3]-[4], poems (p. [5]-[6]), and privilege (p. [7], p. [8] blank). Each page is framed by 1 of 4 different woodcut borders.
The 62 printed leaves consist of woodcut writing samples, each enclosed within 1 of 4 different woodcut borders.
Signatures: *⁴ [1]-[16]⁴ ([16]3-[16]4 blank).
Gathered in 4s but signed anomalously: *2, *3, *4 are signed *3, *5, *7 respectively; leaves [1]-[62] are sequentially signed A-I, L-Z, Aa-Zz, AA-RR. No leaf signed K seems to have been issued: in the Newberry Library copy, leaves I, L, M, and N constitute a single 4-leaf quire; and no leaf K is present in the Bibliothéque Nationale (Paris) copy.
The "Sonnet" on p. [5], signed G.C. Tour., is by Gabriel Chappuis. Cf. Baudrier.
