- Contains writing instructions for, and specimens of, various scripts, especially the chancery cursive, but includes other scripts as well, such as roman capitals, French, German, Spanish, mercantile, and notarial hands, backwards or left-handed letters ("mancina"), and letters tied together ("trattizata"). There are also a section on cryptography (p. [58]-[73]), an extended rebus on a love sonnet, and specimens of exotic alphabets, such as Hebrew, Greek, Chaldean, Egyptian, Arabic, and Saracen. The final section contains advice on selecting writing instruments, cutting quills, preparing ink, and learning to write.
