The results of the astronomical observations of the expedition were designed to form v. 4 and 5 of the reports of the expedition, of which v. 1-3 and 6 were published in 1855-56. Vols. 4 and 5 were not published, the material for v. 4 being now first published; while that for v. 5 was published in 1895 as Appendix I to the Washington observations for 1890.
