Includes academic records for Radcliffe College students, placement records from Appointment Bureau, and letters of recommendation. Academic records are from various offices including Radcliffe’s Office of the Registrar, Office of the Dean of Instruction, Office of the Graduate Dean, Harvard Tutorial Board, and Harvard-Radcliffe Office of Admissions. Items in each folder typically include applications for admission, scholarship and loans; applications and correspondence concerning housing; and academic records.

Series 1. Student files (AB, graduate students, special students, temporary students, transfer students), ca.1890-1926. Each folder contains all the available academic placement records on each student whose last date of attendance was 1926 or earlier. A typical folder may contain records created in the Office of the Dean of Instruction, Office of the Registrar, Graduate Office, Health Center, and/or the Appointment Bureau. For convenience, separate folders on each student created by these offices have been combined into one folder with sheets to separate them. No Appointment Bureau records before 1915 for names beginning with A-D appear (because of destruction at an unknown date). Typical contents include: Applications: application for admission, mid-year report, high school transcript, certificate of honorable discharge from school last attended, certificate of recommendation; Health: health exam record; Academic: summer school grade reports, petitions to change courses; Appointment Bureau: questionnaire, interview sheets, confidential data, correspondence, registration card, information sheet, sophomore job questionnaire, check-up cards, summer job questionnaires. Material removed from the Radcliffe Alumnae Pamphlet collection was added to Grace Buell and Elsie Singmaster's files in June 2018.

Series 2. Student files (AB, graduate students, special students, temporary students, transfer students, Personnel Training, Masters in Teaching, withdrawals), 1927-1970. A typical folder may contain records created in the Office of the Dean of Instruction, Office of the Registrar, Office of the Graduate Dean, Tutorial Board, and/or the Appointment Bureau. Three older files were combined to form the file: Registrar's (1927-1944); Dean of Instruction withdrawals (formerly in one alphabet, 1927-1949); Dean of Instruction (formerly separated by class year, 1927-1949). Typical contents include: Applications: application for admission, correspondence, principal's report; teacher's report, final secondary school records, graduate student application, high school transcripts, letters of recommendation; Scholarship and loans: application and correspondence; Residence: application and correspondence; Academic: major card (field of concentration), plans of study (undergraduate and graduate), academic report sheets (yearly), tutorial board cards, applications for honors, grade cards and absences, correspondence.

Series 3. Student files (AB, transfer students), 1971 - ca.1984

Series 4. Students (AB only) arranged by house (Adams 1984-, Cabot 1983-, Currier 1984-, Dudley 1971-, Dunster 1983-, Eliot 1983-, Kirkland 1983-, Leverett 1983-, Lowell 1984-, Mather 1982-, North 1984-, Quincy 1983-, Winthrop 1982-), 1984 and prior

Series 5. Confidential Admissions material withdrawn from student files through 1982
