.42 linear feet (1 file box)This collection consists of more than 300 letters, poems, and postcards to Alicia Keisker Van Buren from writers, composers, musicians, editors, and others. Most of these acquaintances and friends of Van Buren were at the center of Boston's literary and musical life in the early part of this century; others lived in New York or elsewhere.
The collection is arranged in alphabetical order. It includes two letters whose authors are unidentified, but one is believed to have been written by the painter, John W. Alexander.
BIOGRAPHY
According to information provided by the donor, Alicia [Mrs. Albert A.] Van Buren and her family lived in Brookline, Massachusetts, and were actively involved in the social and literary life of Boston at the beginning of the twentieth century. Van Buren wrote verse and composed musical settings for the works of other writers; As Thought is Led, a book of her poems, was published by the Gorham Press.
