Contains photographs, prints, and newspaper clippings displaying exterior and interior views and seating charts of Boston theaters. Certificates and related lists for the Paramount Theatre are included as well. The images of theaters include: the Boston Museum, Boston Theatre, Columbia Theatre, Globe Theatre, Great Coliseum of the World's Peace Jubilee and International Music Festival, Federal Street Theatre, Hollis Street Theatre, Howard Athenaeum, Old Howard Theatre, National Theatre, Selwyn's Theatre, Tremont Temple, and Tremont Theatre, among others.

Biographical / Historical

The Harvard Theatre Collection was founded in 1901 through the efforts of Professor George Pierce Baker, and collects documentary materials pertaining to the history of the performing arts, including theatre, dance and ballet, and opera and musical theatre, among other areas. These prints and photographs have been collected over time.

Arrangement

Oversized materials are arranged in an alphabetical run by theater name. Boxed materials are loosely arranged in alphabetical order.
