Biographical / Historical
The lyceum movement began in mid-19th century America and continued into the early 20th century, primarily in the Northeast and Midwest. The Anderson Entertainment Bureau, based in Philadelphia (Pa.), promoted a wide variety of readers, impersonators, musicians, and storytellers.
