3 linear feet (11 boxes)Collection is primarily song scores in the form of diazotype reproductions from manuscript in unknown hands, composed by Melanie and others, with some manuscript scores (probably in the hands of Melanie, Peter Schekeryk, and others). Some songs include parts for instruments. Many song reproductions, most from 1971-1972, were copyrighted by the Neighborhood Music Corporation or by Schekeryk Enterprises, Inc. The collection also includes miscellaneous receipts, photographs, notes, and printed material.
Biographical / Historical
Melanie Ann Safka-Schekeryk, born February 3, 1947, in Astoria, New York (N.Y.), is an American singer-songwriter. She is usually known professionally simply as Melanie. Her recordings have been produced primarily by her husband, Peter Schekeryk, her first recording appearing in 1968. She performed at the Woodstock Festival in August of 1969.
