Correspondence (in German) concerns Adele Gerhard's writings, especially Starck's attempts to help her find a publisher for an English edition of her short story, Die Hand Gottes; his attempts to help German-born Melitta Gerhard secure a teaching position in an American university during the early 1940s; and other personal matters. Letters from publishers are in English.
Biographical / Historical
Taylor Starck began teaching at Harvard University in 1920 and assumed the Kuno Francke Professorship of German Art and Culture in 1952. His research interests concerned early medieval Germanic language and literature.
