Collection of printed material by Ian Hamilton Finlay and associates, produced primarily at the Wild Hawthorn Press, with some printed at the Wild Flounder Press, the Salamander Press, and others. The collection consists of concrete and visual poetry and includes 13 booklets, 1 broadside, four folded cards, and 15 printed sheets (14 on card stock and one amusing "Erratum" 5.2 x 7.8 cm.) The collection includes nine issues of the serial Poor old tired horse, with a prospectus for From Burgos jail: Poems and drawings presented by Appeal for Amnesty in Spain (London, 1964), laid in number 10 of Poor old tired horse. Two monographs are from the "Canal stripe series." Accompanying the collection is the Finlay catalogue raisonnée (1990), its 1990-1991 supplement, and catalog of The Ian Hamilton Finlay printed archive by Worthington Miro Ltd. (1994).

Biographical / Historical

Ian Hamilton Finlay (b. 1925) is a Scottish sculptor, graphic artist and poet. Ruth and Marvin Sackner assembled this collection.
