Biographical / Historical
Hofmannsthal was an Austrian poet, dramatist and essayist. Jacoby's bibliography first appeared in Gesellschaft der Bücherfreunde (Hamburg), 1931-32; published in 400 copies in 1936 by Maxmillian-Gesellschaft (Berlin).

This collection of published works by Hugo von Hofmannsthal was assembled by Karl Jacoby, the author of the Hofmannsthal bibliography, and was purchased from Frau Jacoby after the death of her husband, with funds provided by Mr. Gilbert H. Montague.
Separated Materials
This finding aid lists the entire Jacoby Collection; it was not, however, kept intact. Those items marked "DHC rej" were duplicates, and were deaccessioned; those marked "sent to Widener" were sent to the general College Library research collection and not retained by Houghton.
