.1 linear feet (1 volume)Includes an autograph manuscript of notes on the allegorical novel Eudemia by Italian scholar Gian Vittorio Rossi; letters by Naudé to Giovanni Battista Doni, Pierre Gassendi, Athanasius Kircher, Marin Marsenne, and Edward, Lord Herbert of Cherbury, among other correspondents. Also includes manuscript in an unidentified hand of the epitaph of Joao IV, king of Portugal, erroneously attributed to Naudé.
Biographical / Historical
Gabriel Naudé was a French scholar and librarian of the Mazarin Library in Paris. His correspondents included the Italian composer Giovanni Battista Doni, the German mathematician Athanasius Kircher, the French philosopher and scientist Pierre Gassendi, the French philosopher Marin Marsenne, and the English author and poet Edward, Lord Herbert of Cherbury.
