Contains literary papers of Volkonskaia including her poetry, drawings, correspondence, diary entries, and notes. Collection also includes compositions and drawings by other literary figures; Maria Aleksandrovna Vlasova's album of poetry and drawings, notebook, and other papers; correspondence of Czar Alexander I, Prince Aleksandr Nikitich Volkonskii, and others; documents such as safe-conduct passes; and miscellaneous material including financial papers, photographs, printed music, and other printed matter.

Biographical / Historical

Volkonskaia was a Russian princess and author, as well as an amateur singer who collected contemporary vocal compositions. Her birth date is most likely 1789 and not 1792.
