2 linear feet (4 boxes)Consists chiefly of Sir William Rothenstein's correspondence with various family members. William Rothenstein's letters describe his life and travels (in Europe and India), his works, commissions, exhibitions, opinions of museums, family life, social engagements, and reflections on politics and society. Some of these letters include small pen-and-ink sketches. Correspondence with his father, Moritz Rothenstein, discusses family matters, finances, and William's painting. William's correspondence with his brothers, Albert Rutherston and Charles Rutherston, discuss art and artists. Rutherston's letters describe his travels in Egypt. There is also some correspondence of Lady Alice Rothenstein with various family members.
