Marvin (and a few manuscripts) concerning his printing, especially of the speeches of politicians such as Daniel Webster, and educators such as Williams College president Mark Hopkins. Also contains addresses before the Boston Mercantile Library Association, some published by the firm of Perkins and Marvin. Other letters are to T. R. Marvin on libraries or education, to W. T. R. Marvin on numismatics, between Marvin family members, or between third parties. Alsomiscellaneous autograph signatures.
Biographical / Historical
Theophilus Rogers Marvin (1796-1882) was a publisher and printer of Boston, Mass. He was on the committee to establish a public library in Boston. William Theophilus Rogers Marvin (1832-1913) was secretary of the Boston Numismatic Society and author of Medals of the Masonic Fraternity.
