Contains correspondence of William Ewart Gladstone and his family with a wide variety of correspondents, including over 100 letters from Gladstone to Sir Charles Lister Ryan. Also, manuscripts of speeches and miscellaneous items of Gladstone. Other letters are written by royalty, mostly from Great Britain; by various British prime ministers; by British statesmen, authors, artists, and various prominent persons; and by eminent figures in other European countries. Additional material includes photographs, drawings, engravings, clippings, and facsimiles.
