3 boxesThis collection consists of personal files including autobiographical data, memoranda, and Universalist literature; printed material, such as articles that appeared in the Christian Union, Christian Leader, and the Universalist Leader. There are also sermons, arranged alphabetically by title; sources, including writings by Vivian T. Pomeroy and Lyman Abbott; as well as Conner's writings, arranged alphabetically by title. There is also an example of Conner's shorthand in box 3, folder 12.
Biographical / Historical
Charles Chambers Conner (1856-1939) was ordained as a Universalist minister in Roann, Indiana, in 1880. He held pastorates in Milford and Hamilton, Ohio; LaCrosse, Monson, and Springfield, Wisconsin; Barre and Rochester, Vermont; and North Adams, Massachusetts. Conner published several books, including A Pastor's Immortelles, From Nature to Man, and Resources of a Nation. Conner also founded a shorthand system of writing, on which he worked for 20 years.
